Cost

When you buy a custom cut of meat, you will pay Maple Lawn Farm for the animal, and the butcher for the processing and wrapping of the meat. Meat is currently wrapped in white butcher paper, which keeps the meat fresh for at least 6 months, but they do offer vacuum sealed packaging for an additional fee.

Maple Lawn Farm will charge you a per pound fee for the animal.  That price varies slightly, since we base it on current market prices.  Keep in mind that this is average, and is dependent upon multiple variables, but to buy a split side (1/4) of beef will cost between $325 - $425 to Maple Lawn Farm and between $85 and $100 to the butcher.  Since you're bringing home approximately 100 to 125 pounds of meat, that's an average of $3.80 to $4.10 per pound.

For comparison, the average supermarket in this area sells beef at a variety of costs.  Hamburger is priced between $4 and $5/pound, Roasts can vary between $6-$12/pound and and if you want a premium steak, be prepared for at least $10-$15 dollars per pound, depending on the cut. I'm sure you're starting to see the savings here, but we're happy to answer any questions you might have.

We also know that there are some folks that prefer the pencil to paper method, so here is a link to our order form in PDF format.  Just fill it out and click on the link right underneath to email it back to us.
